Color Mixing Experiment

After pressing on the bag, M wondered how blue and yellow mixed together turned green.

Children were gently scooping the colours inside their zip lock bags and pressing the bag. They wondered what would happen after mixing the colours.

M was pressing his finger on the bag and was watching how the colour changes.

M decided to roll the zip lock bag to observe what happened.

H was also curious to observe what happened  after squeezing the bag.

This was our little science experiment with the temperas paint and zip lock bags.  Different children had their unique perspective while they were interacting with this activity. Some of them decided to press the bag and wanted to observe what happened after pressing on the bag.  Some of them were drawing with their fingers on the bag and excited to see their creativity. Younger children were more active with their squeezing and rolling activity. It was exciting and fun for them and at the end, all of them learned that blue and yellow together make the colour green.

My Blue Rainbow

                                    I am making a rainbow.

There is a blue rock  under the rainbow.
Blue Rock want to talk with the blue Rainbow.
I want to close it with my paint

                                     They all are happy.

My reflection
Using tempera paint on the easel is very engaging activity for most of the preschool children .They want to create  , design and make story while they were having the brush on their hand .Today we had a very bright sunny day-although it was so cold outside but I thought I could set up the easel and painting near to the window and inspired the children to look outside and  they may reflect their observation on their art .I was amazed to observe the various style of using the paint on the paper. When I was observing M ,It was really surprising for me when she said ,”teacher I am making a blue rainbow”. I went beside her and curious about her art .I observed that she was really careful to use the color separately. I asked what is the blue circle ,she answer o I am making blue rock-she was putting some red dot the blue rock and said-my blue rock have red spot.she stopped her painting and then started to self talk –she took her brush again and started to paint again .M said teacher look this is me ,I want to  run on the sand and I saw a parking sign.I am sp happy look at my happy face. Then I asked what is on the rainbow M? She answered there was a man sitting on the rainbow and he is eating lunch.
M was engaged ,expressing her imagination to me and when she finished her art I have seen the satisfaction on her face when she was smiling.
BC Early learning framework –Goals
DEVELOP DIVERSE LANGUAGE ABILITIES AND CAPACITIES TO COMMUNICATE WITH OITHERS IN MANY WAYS: When M was doing her painting  and wanted to share her story to me ,I was there with her to listen and curious to see what else she is creating with her imgination.she got the support from the teacher to listen ,to share and encourage to share and express about her art.
COMMUNICATE THOUGHT AND EXPERIENCES CREATIVELY USING MANY DIFFERENT FORMS OF EXPRESSION: When childre play children express their feeling with the teacher, with other children.Art is tone of the best way to learn about the world,It helps the children to express ,to know about science, math etc. Here M got the enviroment to explore,to be creative and  expressive with her own style.

Princess in the Castle

 M said, "I am making a castle."

"Look at my princess, she have a hat."

"My princess will live in the castle. Oh no there is a bear inside."

A said,  "I am making a cave."

My Reflection:

We have been using various types of paper for the children's interactions. They were playing with the paper using their unique styles of play. Some of them wanted to be Batman, while others were pretending to be butterflies. I was amazed to observe M and A when they both were sitting together and concentrating on building something with the paper.  M was carefully putting the paper on the top of the other paper. She was picking shiny paper, then decided to put paper tubes on the coloured construction paper. She was engaged, curious and spending lots of time building her structure.

She said, "I am making a castle for the princess”.
A joined with M and he was curiously observing what M was making.
M said,  "The bear was stuck in the castle and the king closed the door."
M then said “I am making a cave."
A was  also picking paper and paper tubes to make a cave and he decided to use a black colour for the cave .He said that there is no light in the cave. He pointed with his finger and said that the tiger will live inside  the cave .

It was so surprising for me to observe that A told M that the king should open the door and that the bear also can live in the cave.

BC EARLY LEARNING FRAME WORK:
1:Feel valued and explore their own strategies for learning :M and A were engage with the paper provocation activity for a long time. Both of them were designing, creating and building their castle and cave using their creativity. I was an observer and a learner. I was pondering about what I can add to extend this activity.
2:Be creative and expressive in a variety of ways:
We provided various types of paper for the children to experiment and explore for the activity. Children were engaged, creative and using their unique style of playing with the paper. They were flying like butterflies, some decided to be  Batman. Some of them were just making balls and throwing them in the air.

Eid UL Adha

Children were delighted to draw and decorate their Eid card.

They were creative and enjoyed drawing with the felt pens.

They were also  using star shape stickers and coloured  glitter for their Eid cards.

We have been discussing about details about the Hajj -such as what place we visit for hajj, what is the Kaaba, and what kind of clothing man wear during the Hajj.

We also shared  a story about Zamzam water, used visuals and books to learn about  how to perform  Hajj, and learned the basics about why we had to sacrifice animals -also, the children were practicing the Labbayek Allahuma Labbayek...

It was a great week for us to learn and share our ideas for Eid .They were sharing about what they will eat and present to their parents.  Most of the the children decided to present lollipops to me for Eid.

Creation of Allah

We have been learning about the colours and shapes around us.  We were sharing our ideas with each other and  discussing what colours and items we could see around us.  We saw trees, fruit and vegetables-we were discovering what our friends were wearing.

I asked them who created everything for us? Mashaallah,  they answered.  "Allah".  I explained to them about why Allah created everything for us and how it will help us to live in this world.

I added all the healthy food for children's dramatic play area and we were having picnics -during our play we were discussing how all the healthy food helps us to grow and make us a healthy.

I extended this activity to our art area-where I added green and yellow with some plastic fruits and vegetables.
Mashaallah, it was amazing to observe the way the children were using their imagination while they were doing the art.
They wanted to draw, some of them were mixing colours, some of them were taking turn. One of the children was telling us about the farm his grandparents have.
One child drew a sun and he said Allah  made the sun for us -we get light from the sun. Subhaanallah, they are learning many things everyday during play-during art and our everyday communication.

First Day of Sprouts of Iman Preschool

First day of my afternoon class.I was introducing the felt pen and also reminding the children to close every lid after use. I asked them what they think will happen if we do not close the lid. Mashaallah, they were able to use their critical thinking skills and their past experience to answered that the ink will be dry. I Set the table with various felt pens and I wanted to know about what children already know and also their skill levels. They were engaged ,creative and most of them started to talk about their drawings.

A said,  "I am making a school bus". He wanted to draw the bus station too.

S said,  "This is my teacher". She was drawing my pet as well--I am lucky to have an imaginary pet from my student.

Z started his second year with us-Mashallah, he became more creative and descriptive .

T was making all the circles with her red pen and also decided to add blue -I asked her -tell me about your picture -she answered--I am making a necklace for you.

It was time to explore-about the colours, shapes and their imagination, and for me as a teacher to observe and learn from them - to be able to provide more learning opportunity for their specific developmental levels.
May Allah give the children all the opportunity to be good Muslims and strong learners.

Baby Bath

1: Helping each other and taking turns.

2: Mashaallah, it was amazing to observe the way children were waiting to take turns.

3:R said, "Oh no, I have to hold the baby then you will pour water."
.
4: M said, "Baby need to shampoo his hair-I can rub his hair."

5:F said,  "I have an ice cream."

Today we had a beautiful sunny day. Vancouver's temperature was almost 14 degree.  Children started to use their summer jackets and our heating was off at last. Yesterday when we were outside the children were very interested in the water while I was using the hose to water our outdoor garden.  I thought it will be fun for them if I will fill my indoor sensory table with water and sponges. Children love to play with water!  One of the child brought the doll from the dramatic play area, following him another girl added another doll and they both decided to help the dolls have a bath. I was do delighted to observe their team work, the way they were taking turns and helping each other. I added some liquid soap and more sponges, so that everyone can have something to be engaged with.

Rainbow Butterfly

1:Children have been learning about butterflies and their life cycle.

2:We extended this to the art activity and discussed about the Butterfly's Body parts.

3:Children were observant and creative while they were designing their Butterfly.

4:Some children decided they needed to add antenna, so we grabbed pipe cleaners from our art cupboard.

5:One child explained that his Butterfly was so happy because we had a Sunny Day.

Spring is coming soon, Mashaallah, so many Caterpillar were at the outdoor play area .Children were curious about their body parts, what they eat, and how they grow. We created the learning environment where children can investigate, observe, explore, and can get all the answer they were curious about. We started our discussion about who created butterflies and how they help us.  Also, why we need to be kind to the the creation of Allah.

Children were adventures to find what is inside the butterfly body.  How they use their wings, why their wing are too soft. We tried to answered their question by reading a book, showing the video clip about butterfly life cycle, and also we did some movements to show how the butterfly flap their wings-Alhamdulillah  Allah created a beautiful world for us. When we extended it to the art activity, I observed that children were curious and creative when they were decorating their butterfly .They wanted to colour it with various felt pens. They also wanted to glue it with the pipe cleaner and I was amazed when one child asked me to provide glitter for her "Rainbow Butterfly", Subhanallah .
